Today, Monday, is probably our best day of the week, dry and sunny, the rest of the week we will have some short showers during the days but Wednesday will see our wettest day of the week. Temperatures will be mid teens to 18C degrees.
With weeding daily I do see a great improvement, still a few bits of Ground Elder which are easy to dig out and give you a feeling of satisfaction!
A lot of deadheading of perennials to do except for the plants which I would like to let self-seed or to take the seed and sow in the spring. Also I will collect seed from our annuals – Poppies and Foxgloves.
The grass clippings will be distributed around shrubs for mulch and moisture retention. Some trimming of long grass in the young woodland will need to be seen to.
I will start to water the rhododendrons and camellias weekly with a good soak to ensure the shrubs will produce good flower buds for next year.
All this will be keeping us busy for the next two weeks so I will make the most of the good weather when it comes along, I am off into the garden now and will be looking out for and enjoying watching the butterflies too!
