Autumn is very much visible and tangible but we are still continuing with settled weather. Cold night tonight down to 5C degrees. Monday up to Friday will be dry, sunny and bright with daytime temperatures about 11 – 12 C degrees. On Friday however we might see rain showers if we are lucky! Winds are easterly and getting stronger towards the end of the week.
I have moved the few pots of geraniums and pelargoniums into the greenhouse before we get caught by any frost.
We need to cut back our hybrid roses by a third to reduce any rocking during the coming winter weather.
The pond has the net cover put on today to help prevent any leaves falling into the water.
We also must finish spreading last year’s leaf mould around shrubs and specimen perennial plants.
Lastly we will make a start and thin out some of the many Scots Pines in the young woodland, ones that are weak or misshapen or the ones that need to go to make room for a better specimen. This will give us an opportunity to plant new specimen trees to give us more Autumn colour and maybe even flowers.
Most of all we will revel in all the lovely autumn colour wherever we go!!!
