Garden Tips#11

April 11, 2016 by Gwynne Hetherington

The damp and wet days of last week was appreciated by the plants! Forecast for this week looks great, easterly winds for Monday and Tuesday about 8-9 degrees. It turns cooler and drier with chilly winds from the north with temperature 5-6 degrees for the rest of the week. Watch out for tender plants which might still need protection.

With so little gardening done last week we will pick up where we left off and finish the herbaceous borders. I will be dividing any Primulas while I go along, also potting up any self seeded perennial plants.

I have still to mulch the Camellias, Bamboos and the Magnolia. The Cornus (Dogwood) and Salix (Willow) can be cut back.

The weeds have shot up and are growing at their usual rate so with the dry days to look forward to, hoeing will be on my menu!

Walking round the garden every day is a joy, to see the colours and new tips and shoots coming through, the garden is coming alive!
