What a weather forecast that was, especially Friday, but that is nature for you, unpredictable but exciting.
Anyway this week we are influenced by high pressure, so it will be more settled. Sunny days with variable cloud cover, temperatures between 6-10 C and chilly nights.
Colour is bursting around the garden with snowdrops, crocuses and the daffodils coming through at last.
We will be planting the shallots and onions this week, also sowing the tomatoes and aubergines in trays – any vegetable that needs a long growing season.
I will look at our roses, cut back and cut out any dead wood then finish off with a good mulch and rose feed. That should keep them happy for the time being!
Also the dahlia and begonia tubers need to be coming into the light and they will need some compost and water to get them to sprout.
The herbaceous border will need to be tided and cut back and mulched for the coming season, we will get a start on that this week!
