Another very cold night ahead -2C degrees! Very frosty morning, a dry and sunny afternoon and temperatures up to 3C degrees. Overnight rain and showers in the morning, later dry in the afternoon with northerly winds. The rest of the week is settled by a high pressure, we should have dry sunny days with 4-6C degrees.
We have had such stunning days they are breathtakingly beautiful! With the frosty nights the last leaves are dropping off like flies during the thaw of the morning. So one last BIG rake of all the woodland paths, which are mostly Sycamore and Ash leaves and one last dance on the leaf mould heap!
Started painting our new pergola which is in many panels, with Hammerite. Once all the different pieces have been treated we can assemble it all together, that will be fun!
While working in the young pine woodland we are once again using the supple “green” branches to put up another windbreak, weaving the branches in and out of pine poles knocked into the ground. I think we are halfway through the work there so progress is being made.
David still has to clean out the pond filter ready to store it for the winter. We are having lots of winter visitors like Redwings and Fieldfares and it is lovely to watch them enjoying the Rowan berries! They are quite noisy birds so you cannot fail to notice them. The Red Squirrels are also regularly visiting the bird table to take their share of the peanuts!
I am delighted to read from your latest report that there are red squirrels in the Roseisle district, I look forward to seeing them when I’m next in Moray. I’m also really pleased that yoga will be held from January 2017, I will definitely attend once we are settled in the area.
