We should be looking forward to a warm and pleasant week, the only rainy day seems to be Tuesday with rain all afternoon which the plants will welcome. Temperatures too – lovely and warm between 15-22C.
After the storm 2 weeks ago our internet has been down, but is now back to normal after a long, long wait for a replacement “hub” (thanks BT).
We had a big tidy up after the bad winds, followed by a big bonfire. Then back to weeding, deadheading and edging before the final garden open day last Saturday which was a splendid day all round.
With the dry days ahead we will be watering the roses, clematis, rhododendrons and azaleas. I am sure there will be other plants that will be thankful of some watering.
I noticed grey aphids on the tree lupins so they got dealt with at great speed! Our tomatoes have been topped to stop their growth, their leaves still need to be cut back to let more light in to the ripening fruit. The potatoes have been cut down too, due to signs of blight.
Still a lot of weeding and cutting back of perennial plants to get through. The compost heaps are filling up nicely, one is ready to be spread in a few weeks time.
There is still plenty of colour, structure and interest in the gardens so we will head out on the road and enjoy visiting a few!!
