Garden Tips#27

August 1, 2016 by Gwynne Hetherington

Another week with days of sunshine and some with rain. Monday looks to be dry, but we will probably get a big shower around 2 till 3 pm.  After a cool night of 10 C, Tuesday should be dry and sunny with about 15 C followed by a very damp rainy day on Wednesday. Thursday has more light showers in the forecast and Friday looks to be bright with northerly winds and cooler temperatures of 15 C.

Again more picking of soft fruit and vegetables this week, to be processed for the freezer which is going to be bursting soon!

Still checking for the scarlet lily beetle and crushing any in sight, sorry! Deadheading of roses and removing all the leaves with black spot which go in the bin or on the bonfire. Lots more deadheading in the borders to do – still can’t find the courage to cut down the geraniums as the gardeners do on Gardeners World etc.!

We need a huge tidy up of the pots of perennials I have for sale on the Open Days. So many plants, some to be kept for sale and some to be planted out in a new bed where I have been keeping the plants up ’til now.

If this doesn’t make sense don’t worry – as long as it looks tidy!

Make the most of Tuesday which promises to be a lovely day!
